Læs artiklen her.

(Kristian Byrge, MUUTO).

WhatsWhat Collective wins prestigious prize - in english

MUUTO TALENT AWARD 2010 Muuto has again called for the next generation of designers to give their perspective on New Nordic design. The second annual competition for students of the Scandinavian design schools has now been decided and this year’s winner is Whatswhat Collective and their Pull lamp. In spring 2010, 20 design schools from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland were invited to participate in Muuto’s design contest, MUUTO TALENT AWARD and hundreds of students submitted their designs within the categories of furniture, lamps and home accessories. The winning design has now been chosen and it was the Konstfack design trio Whatswhat Collective that took the headline and first prize this year. Among the jury’s arguments for choosing the PULL lamp were the design’s “strong Scandinavian references in both material and appearance” combined with some “surprising and neat functional features”. “As a young design studio we are excited to have won an award from a company so focused on celebrating contemporary Scandinavian design.” – Whatswhat Collective on winning Muuto Talent Award 2010. ”We believe that the road to success for modern Scandinavian design lies in a strong belief in the best younger designers, so we are very happy that so many talented designers from the next generation are submitting their work to our competition.” – Kristian Byrge, Director, Muuto. www.muuto.com
